SS-31 (also referenced as elamipretide) is a small, cell-permeable tetrapeptide that selectively concentrates at the inner mitochondrial membrane through electrostatic interaction with cardiolipin. In laboratory research it is used to investigate mitochondrial membrane stabilization, electron transport chain efficiency, and ROS production in cultured cell and isolated mitochondria models. Supplied lyophilized; identity and purity confirmed by HPLC and mass spectrometry.
